On Wednesday morning 18-year old Haley Dunn of Borger was arrested by Texas Rangers and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division. Officials caught Haley Dunn in Plainview after she fled the scene of a shooting in Borger Tuesday night.

35-year old Quincy Lang died as a result of a single gun-shot wound according to the Borger Police Department. Lang was shot and found by police in the parking lot behind Jackpot Junction in downtown Borger. Reaction from folks in the community is that of shock and concern.

“Well I was frightened because a lot of my clientele leave late at night,” said Sandra Cates, Borger business owner. “I was just actually shocked when I heard the news.”

“I was heartbroken and not just for the family of the deceased,” said Clesta Collins, Borger business owner. “My heart also breaks for the girl and her family and it breaks my heart for our town. This isn’t what we want Borger to be represented for.”

Valerie Hart grew up in Borger and runs a business on Main Street. She tells ABC 7 News the fatal shooting is a reminder that no matter where you go, you can never be too safe.

“There are nights where we are here until 8:30 to 9 p.m. and my ladies that quilt with me have to walk out to their cars,” said Valerie Hart. “The safety of everyone that comes in and out of here is a great concern.”

Dunn has been arrested and charged with manslaughter, a second degree felony. The incident occurred outside of a business that has been closed more than once by Borger police.

“We have shut this place down three times,” said Brandon Strope, assistant police chief. “We have raided and shut down the majority of our casinos multiple times. Un-fortunately they re-open right back up. We do what we can to keep them under investigation and shut them down as the law requires. The investigations are quite lengthy and it doesn’t take a whole lot to open back up.”

Borger police are still investigating Tuesday night’s shooting and is updating the case on the departments Facebook page. Strope, tells ABC 7 News Dunn’s charges may change pending the outcome of the investigation.
