The Amarillo Police Department said officers have responded to nearly 40 wrecks since Tuesday at noon.
According to APD, from noon Tuesday until midnight, officers responded to 19 crashes. From midnight until about 11:15 on Wednesday, 20 wrecks prompted an officer response.
APD said the daily average of wrecks last year was between 25 and 30. They did not have any information on the severity of the crashes or anyone that was taken to the hospital.
