
Groom, TX β A fatal wreck involving five tractor-trailers and an SUV Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 40 near Groom, Texas, was caused by blowing dirt,
Department of Public Safety Trooper Christopher Ray said.
About 2:45 p.m., the driver of an eastbound tractor-trailer slowed down on the Interstate as dirt blowing north impeded visibility.
One person was killed due to the chain reaction of vehicles rear-ending vehicles.
No hazardous material was spilled in the wreck. At 8:00 p.m., crews were still working to clear the wreck, Ray said.
βItβs going to take us a little bit to clean it up,β he said.
Eastbound traffic is being diverted to the access road.
