Conway, Texas – The Texas Department of Public Safety reported Monday, that 3 people from Washington state were killed Sunday night in a wreck on I-40 near Conway.

The DPS said, Vanessa Cummings, 25, Brandon Joshua Cummings, 24, and 10-month-old Dawson Chase Cummings, all of Lakewood, Washington, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

About 7:15 p.m. Sunday nine miles west of Conway, a tractor-trailer was traveling east on I-40 and Vanessa Cummings was driving a Chevrolet Equinox traveling west,
the DPS said. The truck driver suffered a medical episode, and the truck traveled into the westbound lanes of I-40, and then struck the Equinox head-on, according to a preliminary investigation. The three passengers in the Equinox were killed, the DPS said.

The truck driver, Jorge Alberto Contreras, 62, of Pacoima, California, was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries,
the DPS said. The accident remains under investigation.
