Amarillo 18 Wheeler Accidents: Van And Semi Collide In Saint Francis Avenue Wreck

A driver has to be cut out of a van after it collides head-first with a semi.

It happened about an hour ago, at 9:53 p.m. on Sherrill Drive and Saint Francis Avenue. That’s just east of Dumas drive in north Amarillo.

Witnesses at the scene tell reporters that the van was driving westbound in the wrong lane.

According to officials at the scene, the semi was driving eastbound.

The 62-year-old driver was transported to a local hospital with what were last described as life threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck was not injured and there were no passengers in the van.

APD Traffic Investigations investigators were called to the scene.

Investigators are attempting to determine if alcohol was a factor in the collision.
