Truck Accident

An Amarillo woman died and another person was injured after the vehicle they were traveling in hydroplaned and flipped off of Interstate 40 near Pullman Road, Amarillo police said.

Irene Kay Reyna, 50, the driver of the vehicle, was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

At 11:51 a.m., officers responded to the single-vehicle crash, which occurred near I-40’s Pullman exit.

Police said a black 2006 Dodge Ram pickup was headed east on I-40 when it hydroplaned on standing rainwater and hit the end of a guardrail on an overpass.

The vehicle rolled several times down the I-40 embankment and came to a rest on the eastbound frontage road.

Reyna and her passenger, 20-year-old Robert David Reyna, were taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

Robert Reyna was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Potter County Justice of the Peace Richard Herman has ordered an autopsy for Irene Reyna.

Per Amarillo Police Department, the wreck remains under investigation.
